This was such a surprise! I apparently have been walking by if for several years and never cluing in there was a restaurant there.
I was introduced to it by a friend I was Chrismas shopping with. Since I had already been to the two other restaurants she had in mind, we picked this one to try, since it was new to me. So glad we did.
Inside the decor is sweet. It is in the old post office building, with 20+ foot ceilings, interesting windows and an overall beautiful feel to the space. It was lunch so the tables were uncovered - at night I understand it is white table cloth time.
Our waitress was quite wonderful - cheerful and helpful, as well has having great timing on table approach.
I tried one of the specials - gnochi with sweet red grapes. Absolutely wonderful. I had to stop and savour the flavour. My friend probably thought I was a but nuts as I closed my eyes and put my hand to my heart. LOL. It was that good.
Would I return: Yes. Plotting how to get my husband there for lunch or dinner in the near future. It's a commitment for us to get out there from Ottawa east.
Would I recommend: Yes! -

The place has a nice atmosphere and the food is good. Unfortunately the service was rather slow. We were seated at 6 and ordered drinks which arrived promptly and ordered our entrees. I watched 3 of our entrees arrive a full hour later and sit on a side board cooling off for 5 minutes. Then they were served to us. The other 2 members of our party had to wait another 10 minutes to get theirs. The waiter offered the sixth member a glass of wine (we thought by apology) while she continued to wait. Her meal arrived at few moments later.
So basically we ate in two shifts rather than eat cold food! The last ones served had ordered "gourmet" pizzas. I could of ordered takeout and had it delivered in less than 1 hr and 15 minutes this took.
Oh and that conciliatory glass of wine landed on her bill!
This is our third visit to this establishment and likely our last. If your charging top prices then deliver good customer service. -

Had a great pizza accompanied by a Broadhead craft beer. The space is in a nicely restored historic post office and the wait staff was helpful and knowledgeable. We were a group of four that had cycled into Almonte for lunch and they didn't seem bothered by us in cycling gear which is always nice. For desert I had nice biscotti (not too dry/hard) and a proper espresso. Would visit again for sure.
